Yoga

I hold a PG Diploma in Yoga Education from Kaivalyadhama in Lonavala, Maharashtra, India - a leading yoga institute which follows the Ashtanga (Eight Limb) Yoga of Patanjali, an 8th century sage in India.

In my yoga classes I combine asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation.

For me, yoga is more than just stretching and exercises. I have used yoga to help me work in a holistic way, combining my psychotherapeutic training with yogic principles to create interactive classes. For example, if someone struggles with balancing poses, we might look at whether they struggle with finding balance in their life.

My journey with yoga wasn’t always smooth, in fact, sometimes it still isn’t. Having studied in a very traditional school and ashram in India, I had to learn to develop and continuously maintain a sense of self-discipline , which was, I believe, essential for the progression of my relationship with yoga and it becoming a part of my daily routine.

In my yoga classes I try to help my students to establish a connection with the body, and to respect what their body is telling them.

There are days when we feel wonderfully flexible and can hold a pose for ages, and then there are those in which we feel stiff and just want to lie in Shavasana.

Pushing ourselves is good, but not listening to our body can be quite damaging, especially if we are used to other people and everyone around us telling us what we should be doing.

I use my psychotherapy training and understanding of emotions to develop classes that will help you to connect your body, mind and emotions in order to assist you in finding your centre - that place where you already are at peace.

Group Classes

The group classes are specifically designed for up to 8 people. I like to create a safe space for my students to feel relaxed enough to be themselves and in that way to contribute to the energy of the class.

Every class is tailored so that everyone can join – both experienced yogis as well as complete beginners. You are always encouraged to listen to your body and go as far as you want to go.

The classes consist of asanas, pranayamas and usually a short meditation or body awareness exercise in the end. The yoga that I teach is hatha, but I like to bring in elements of Yin, as well as mantra.

One-On-One Classes

One-on-one yoga classes are specifically tailored to meet each student’s individual needs.

We can focus on the physical, (for example, yoga for lower back), emotional, (yoga for depression, or low confidence).

I ensure that my student's age, experience and emotional state all guide me in creating a unique and tailored yoga session that's right for that particular person..

Private classes cost 40€, and are conducted in your home, or, alternatively, the local community centre.
